Sunday Sees the Return of Malghe tra Miane e Borgo Valbelluna: A 2022 Edition Full of Culture, Tradition and Outdoor Sport.
The foothills of the Treviso and Belluno Prealps are getting ready for their first-Sunday-of-September celebration: the Malghe tra Miane e Borgo Valbelluna festival, now in its 22nd edition.
On Sunday 4 September, from 9am, in the magnificent “panoramic observatory” of Rifugio Posa Puner, the Pro Loco of Miane will welcome mountain lovers, outdoor sports enthusiasts and, why not, good food fans to its now-historic info point.
A journey in stages, to be completed as each visitor chooses, among the malghe (mountain huts), small refuges and bivouacs built by herders and hay-cutters between the provinces of Belluno and Treviso. Delightful places that belong to the municipalities of Borgo Valbelluna and Miane.
From the info point, at 9am, the Amici del Bosco’s educational walks will set off along a renewed panoramic route to discover mushrooms (Graziano: 333 938586) and wild plants (Francesco: francescodabroi@libero.it), along with the “E-Bike to the Peaks” ride from the Posa Puner refuge car park to Malga Garda and back, organised by Italy Pro Cycling (Eddi: 349 8476803).
In the Posa Puner equipped area at 9am there will be a hiker’s snack (a tasting of mountain products run by the “Le Roe” group), and the guided excursion to Pont de Val d’Arc, organised by the CAI section of Pieve di Soligo, will also set off (Michele: 342 0837468).
Malga Canidi will offer a lunch with the herder’s dish (stew, polenta, cheese and potatoes); at Praderadego at 8.30am the guided MTB and E-Bike tour with MTB Guides Valbelluna will begin (rental available, info and bookings 351 9368333); also at 8.30am there will be a companionable walk with the Borgo Valbelluna Safe Walking group.
At Malga Garda you can instead enjoy a lunch with a typical dish, while at Casera Salvedella Vecia there will be the herder’s dish (stew, polenta, cheese and potatoes), a nature workshop (Seed bombs for biodiversity and Tracking animals) run by the Trame di Storia association, and a stand from the Pro Loco of Combai showcasing typical local produce. At Salvedella Nova, meanwhile, Stelle Alpine and the Alpine Civil Protection teams from Mel will offer frittelle and panet with pastin.
At Malga Mariech at 9.30am there will be the start of the Nordic walking hike to Salvedella, organised by the Hills Nordic Walking association (info and bookings: Giuliano 339 4809367).
At Casera Ai Pian Alti the Pro Loco of Miane will offer spit-roast, pastin sandwiches, wine and beer, and there will also be an exhibition and demonstration of a chainsaw wood-sculpting workshop by Toni Poloni.
At Bivacco Mont there will be an exhibition and demonstrations of historical fencing by the Arma Mentis association (Emanuele: 347 5008210).
