From the Dolomites to the World: Photographer Mauro De Bettio and His Book “40 Seasons of Humanity”.
Mauro De Bettio’s book “40 Seasons of Humanity” can be purchased through the pre-sale campaign on Crowdbooks. It is a limited edition of only 150 copies and will not be available in bookstores.
The photographic book contains the stories gathered during a journey that began ten years ago—a journey Mauro first undertook driven by the desire to explore and place flags on a map, which soon evolved into an inner journey.
Throughout this journey, the author was drawn to remote corners of the planet, meeting and photographing people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. These individuals opened a window into their lives, revealing emotions, traumas, suffering—and a constant light of life and joy in their eyes.
Some of them are often described as marginalized—minorities that are easy to ignore or whose existence we simply don’t know about. Yet these are minorities made up of millions of people. Mauro allowed himself to reach and explore the fragile balance that weaves between people within the infinite beauty of diversity, through the face of a humanity told in 40 rhythms—40 seasons—hence the title 40 Seasons of Humanity.
Photography goes beyond the image itself—it is De Bettio’s way of communicating resilience and fragility, light and shadow, the joy of a gaze and its essence. The determination of the people portrayed in his photographs stands as an extraordinary example of how every challenge can become an opportunity, turning the author into a spokesperson and interpreter of a piece of this humanity.
