Festa del Fagiolo di Lamon — the Lamon Bean festival in the Feltre area

On the Lamon plateau, on the border with Trentino, the third weekend of September has been devoted to a pulse for more than thirty years. The Fagiolo di Lamon della Vallata Bellunese PGI arrived here in the sixteenth century and found gravelly alluvial soil and a mild climate: ever since, it has been the product around which the village’s food identity turns.

What to expect

Three days of market for the fresh product, food stands run by the local associations and dedicated menus in the village restaurants. The repertoire runs from the classics — minestrone, pasta e fagioli, tripe with beans — to the less predictable dishes the associations come up with each year. Beside the table there is the rest of the festival: crafts and sculpture, a market, exhibitions set up in the churches and village halls, shows and live music. It is worth taking the chance to visit the churches of San Daniele and San Pietro and the archaeological collection devoted to the Roman necropolis of San Donato.

Practical information

Free entry. The festival draws tens of thousands of visitors: it is best to arrive early, especially on Sunday. The programme, opening times and stand menus are published by the Pro Loco in the days beforehand.
