🏔️ The “social” community of the DoloMitici! is approaching its tenth anniversary.
It was born nearly ten years ago, from the imagination of Dario Ganz, almost as a bet or—better said—an intelligent and perhaps visionary challenge. Today, it counts tens of thousands of members.
We are talking about the Facebook Group of the DoloMitici!, a virtual community of enthusiasts of the most beautiful mountains in the world. A community founded in 2008 that has grown steadily, fueled by photos, stories, emotions, and passions—and it continues to grow at a dizzying pace.
In October 2017, the group was celebrating 50,000 members. Just one year later, it had surpassed 75,000!
A growth made not only of numbers but above all of quality. Dario surrounded himself with a trusted team, a close-knit group united by love for the Dolomites. Around them: a living community, eager to discover, communicate, share—and above all, experience this incredible mountain world.
The rules are few, all inspired by one idea: sharing the beauty of the Dolomites without borders. No ideological, political, religious, or administrative limits: Pelmo is Pelmo, whether seen from Val Fiorentina, Val del Boite, or Val di Zoldo, Tre Cime di Lavaredo remain majestic, whether from Auronzo or Sesto, Marmolada is always herself, from Contrin, Giau, or Fedaia.
What began as a bold idea and a “social phenomenon” is now a mature, concrete reality.
The DoloMitici! Group is a strong, dynamic network: tens of thousands of mountain lovers exchanging images, videos, ideas, and perspectives. Sometimes they debate, sometimes they reconcile—sometimes they even get married (yes, really!).
The digital world quickly spilled into the real one: people met in person, recognized each other on trails, created lasting friendships.
Many members actively produce high-quality content and share valuable information. Some have launched projects, some organize exhibitions, events, and conferences that tell the story of the Dolomites even far from the peaks.
The group is now frequently invited to participate in real-world events—previously reserved for institutions or tourism boards—proving how powerful and essential the Social Network dimension has become.
The administrators have met several times in person, notably at the group’s 10-year anniversary at Passo Giau in 2017.
In October, DoloMitici! joined the team of the first-ever Dolomiti Show – A Mountain Spectacle in Longarone: an event promoting an integrated vision of tourism and sports across the Belluno mountains.
Later that month, they hosted Robin Good in Belluno for his talk From Brand to Friend, an innovative approach to value-based online business.
On November 24, the group took part in a CAI roundtable in Longarone: “Responsible mountain attendance in the age of Social Networks.” More events are sure to come!
Today, Dolomites and DoloMitici! stand out as pioneers—reminding tourism professionals that successful mountain experiences must be immersive, shared, and genuinely social.
Involving everyone—especially those who love the Dolomites the most!
